Personal Narrative: My New Middle School

Improved Essays
Skin tingling, knots forming in my stomach as I walk through the doors of my new middle school. “Ugghh, I just want to be back in Brooklyn NY, going to school with my friends not here,' I think to myself brushing away at fast pace from an 8th grader class, full of giants who made me feel like a midget. “First day and you already missed the bus, and are 20 minutes late!!” I congratulate myself in my head, shaking it in disbelief. Realizing that I might be more late if I keep walking at my current pace, I start to speed walk. “This school is huge just like the ocean and as large as the eye can see,” I thought to myself snapping my fingers and twirling my body side to side and shaking my head pretending to look cool when a teacher pooked his head out of classroom door. Immediately I stopped, feeling the blood drain from my face.

“well that’s a quite nice dance there but aren’t you suppose to be

It been about thirty seconds since I came into the classroom and I already had learned two things. 1 that Chase had no sense of fashion and second he was an _____. I ignored him because I didn't want Mr Mauro to catch me not paying attention. Luckily Chase drew his attention away from me and to the worksheet we had to complete. Time flew by quickly. Completing the worksheet and then listening to lectures given by Mr Mauro who was trying to make them interesting but it was obvious no one took any interest.

“Does anyone know how earthquakes happen?” Mr Mauro asked the entire class. Pitch silence echoed in the room. “Come on, some one knows” he said. No one raised their hand. “Well I guess I’ll just teach you” he says going to get something from his desk. As he turns, the room gets nosier filling up with the sound of kids talking to their friends. Brianna turns around and introduces herself to me.

“Hey, Is Chase annoying you? I went to elementary school with him so I would know.” she says to me

This personal narrative is going to be about the first day of Middle School and my experiences as a 6th grader. It is going to go after my emotions and other descriptive details of the first day. I still remember how the seat belt felt tightening across my chest as the car got closer to the Middle School. During that time I knew nothing about being in a big school because the biggest school i've been in was yankee ridge. (Which is really small).…

His eyes brushed down a list of names quickly and came to a sudden halt. With a glance toward me, he called me to the front of the room to present my work from the day before. And then it wasn't just him and me, it was him and me and every other sharp-faced person in the room. They were experienced "AP students," the best of the best, I was a mere peasant in their presence. Reluctantly, I made my way to the front of the room and with an unsure hand slid my work under the projector screen.…

Observations: Students were allowed to wear a hat to class if they had paid a dollar. Usually this is not allowed in class. They seemed pretty excited over allowed to wear a hat in the classroom. When the students finally settled in to the classroom, Mrs. Geisheimer gave the students a Do Now. The way she described the assignment was confusing because she told the students to do the right side of the page, but when showing the class the paper, she was pointing to the left side of the page.…

One of your escorts drove you to the school you were assigned in a black limo, and you marveled at the scenery. Your eyes darted across every surface, amazed by each detail. Beacon Hills High School was a red-brick building, you saw people your age moving about frantically, huddled into groups, shouting across large areas of concrete. You saw people with colored hair, dark clothes, metal piercing their skin. You were so busy gazing at the sight before you that you hardly noticed the car drive away, leaving you alone at this new school, but you didn’t feel that way at all.…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

In the seventh grade, I faced a large transition in life. The previous year I had experienced middle school for the first time, but I would make that entrance again. I moved from Texas to North Dakota, where seventh grade was the first year of middle school. I took on those same fears and hopes that I had faced before, but in an unfamiliar place where I had no one except for family to give me support. I tried a lot of new things that year, mainly wrestling.…

My first day of middle school was hell, I have always been good at school. My grades have never been bad and neither have my actions and or attendance. Probably from having a mom that is also a teacher. I look at that as a good thing though, watching kids just goof off and not come to school then high school rolled around and it was like I got to look down on them because they did not prepare for bigger and better things. School wasn't bad for me because it was hard, it was bad because i was always shy in school.…
