This mistake that I’m writing about took a rather long time to learn that it was a mistake. Ever since I was a child my parents always pushed for me to learn Spanish. Probably due to the fact that my family is Spanish and that half of my relatives speak Spanish only. I never got into learning Spanish, and well they couldn’t blame me, I only started speaking English when I was six. Before that I was using basic sign language which I have now forgotten. So not only was I starting to get a grasp on English, but my parents also wanted me to learn Spanish. They finally decided that they should stick with me learning English at the time.

Even making me stay at my mother’s mom’s house for a month so that I could learn Spanish. My Grandma only knew Spanish, so there was really no context on translation… yeah my parents didn’t think that through now thinking about it. Anyways, I didn’t want to learn Spanish at the time. My focus was on school and videogames. And since the school was in Japan, Spanish wasn’t of much use there, so they taught Japanese instead. Though Japanese would be impractical in my life, I was only going to live in Japan for two years, and Japanese wasn’t a major business language. Nor are any of my relatives Japanese. Through all the opportunities that I received when I was young on learning Spanish, I didn’t took any of them. It was too boring at the time. But now I can see why my parents always pushed for me to learn Spanish. It allowed me to be much more culturally “sensitive” in a very culturally diverse world. I guess the moral of this story was that if I took up the many opportunities that were present to me when I was young. I would be able to speak to all of my relatives and breeze through those pesky Spanish
