Personal Narrative: My Interest In Physical Therapy

After overcoming such insurmountable challenges, and becoming exposed to multiple therapy settings and treatment types my interest in physical therapy has only grown stronger. I made it my goal as a patient to learn and know what is being done and what options are available. I may know what it's like to have hemiplegia, but also comprehend the significance of how ankle foot orthosis (AFO’s) provide structural stability at the ankle, thus limiting plantar flexion during the phases of gait and how it may assist with foot drag. I also know what it's like to have excruciating back and neck pain due to bulged disks resulting from a massive car wreck, and yet I understand the basics of how to perform manual and mechanical lumbar and cervical
