My goals for the third trimester of school consisted of using illustrations and other art in my reflections and projects. My second goal of mine was to share those reflections and thoughts with the rest of my class. Although we haven'y done many art based projects throughout this trimester in Quakerism and my other classes, I've used many observations from our service trips to come to conclusions about topics such as education as well interpreting Quaker testimonies. It was a blustery and gloomy morning as I trudged along the weathered pavement to the entrance of the church. My Sympathetic Nervous System was revved up as I anticipated what lie behind the faded and chipped paint door. Upon entering the room I was jovially greeted by a man with a melodious “Welcome!” There were about thirty people from all different lifestyles, huddled in the room around three long wooden tables. Men and women, some appeared jovial and others exhibited a flat effect.…

My parents have said to work hard and do my best in school. I never understood why until I got older. The reason they told me to do my best in school was because they wanted me to think about school and my future. Both of my parents didn't get the chance to go to college. They both came to the United States looking for what most people come to the United States for ‘The American Dream’, they wanted a place where they could raise their children and find a stable job.…
