Throughout my first two years of highschool, my teachers stressed heavily about being prepared for the 'ACT'; which is a test that covers four major subjects, math, english, reading and science. My years of middle and highschool in were suppose to prepare me for the test. My first time taking the test was 11th grade year in the month of April. The highschool i attended was sponsoring the ACT test so all 11th and 12th graders took the test. At this time the test was not a big deal to me because in my mind I thought i knew everthing i needed to know and that the test would be breeze. While taking the test , the only thing going through my mind was that this test is to easy i should make a good score. When i got to the math portion of the …show more content…
The score did not phase me in any way becuase I had a whole year and a half to bring it up, so this was only the beginning. I registered to take the test again in October of 2015 and I did not study once again mainly because I gave myself the big head , thinking i didnt have to. I recieved my scores two weeks later and was depressed . I once again scored another sixteen. This hurt me because i knew I could not get accepted into the coolege I wanted to attend with that terrible score. I was sad and didnt know what to do, around this time its December of 2015 and I felt as If time was running out and I had to do something. One day I was looking on the ACT website and came across the ACT online prep program. With that being said I immediatly bought the online prep program for thirty dollars and i told myself that i will score higher. At the particular Highschool i attended , school days were shortened because I got out of school early everyday at twelve o'clock becuase i was a senior. With the extra time I had i studied day in and night out until the next test date which was February fourth. While studying i had noticed that i felt very confident about my english and reading, I felt as if I had those two subjects down

Although the new SAT and ACT are both very similar in terms of material and neither is preferred over the other, the SAT is a more appropriate for me as it is a better alternative to my test taking skills and more relevant to my career choice. According to the article, “Which One Should You Take?,” the ACT has a science section of the test while the New SAT doesn’t include “a science section. The “science” section of the ACT is easy to master, and has nothing to do with science. But if you hate it, then the New SAT is your savior” (Doc 1).…

Throughout my two years of high school, I have not yet taken the ACT’s because I don’t feel as if I’m as prepared as I can be. As my grade level gets higher, I choose to take more advanced classes that will prepare me more for college and my ACT test. As of now, I plan on taking the ACT for my first time in either the fall or winter so I have time to study. If I don’t score as high as I’d like to, I will know what areas I need to work on, and I could keep retaking it until I get a score I really like. I hope that when I do feel ready and prepared to take it, I can aim to get a score between 28-32, but since it would be my first time taking it, I would feel happy with a score of at least 22.…

This test was stressing me out to the point where I was making myself sick over it. He explained how this test is only a tiny part and will not determine one’s future.…

The SAT “is a sternly worded dinosaur of a test, graded in an arbitrary manner with outdated equipment…the only reason people take it is because they have to.” Children begin taking standardized tests in pre-kindergarten and by the time they are high school seniors, they’ve taken an average of 112 standardized tests (Strauss 1), all with one purpose: to measure and quantify intellectual ability. However, there is a growing mountain of evidence that suggests the SAT is a poor measurement of potential college success. The SAT is regarded as one of the more important tests, as it is used primarily to measure a student’s potential college success. For high school students the SAT is the gatekeeper of the future.…

For nearly seven months I practiced and worked on passing this test level and went in front of three judges and didn't pass. A month into my junior I was persistent to balance my school, my extracurriculars, and my test and that is when I went in front of a new set of judges and failed again. At this point I was pretty frustrated because all of my friends had all ready passed their test before junior year and weren't feeling the stress or disappointment that I was, but I tried to hide it and…
