Personal Narrative: My First Original Theater

Decent Essays
I was fortunate enough to have had my first theatre production at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. I was a member of the children's ensemble in A Christmas Carol from 2008 - 2012. Unfortunately, the Guthrie was one of the only theatre companies where I experienced conflict between the kids. However, even when I was 11, I felt it was my duty to settle disputes. Two of the young cast members had gotten into an argument, which was a hard situation for me because both of them were my friends. So, in an attempt to solve the issue, I talked to each of them one at a time and heard each side's story, and I tried to explain the counterarguments the other side had made. I am a firm believer that no one can have a single story of any given situation.

At age thirteen, I was a chorus girl and later on when I was fifteen, I performed at Pan- American exposition in the “Trip to the Moon” exhibit. At age sixteen, I had an opportunity to perform in Mr. Bluebird along with my mother at the Iroquois theater.…

On November 10 I attended Elf the Broadway Musical written by David Berrenbaum and directed by Sam Scalamoni. I attended Elf the Broadway Musical which was put on by Texas A&M University and MSC OPAS. Elf the Broadway Musical was a comedic musical that appealed to audience members of any ages including a range from myself a college student to the family of four sitting next to me. Elf the Broadway Musical was a delight surprise, since I had seen Elf (film) I expected the play to appeal more to a younger audience, but was surprised when I found myself laughing alongside the two children sitting next to me. I honestly did not have very high expectation from this play for some reason I was just not very excited to attend this play maybe it was…

"Mason are you here for therapy?" requested Dr. Stiner, as he casually moved towards Mason, who was in the shadow of building half way into the night. The moon was high in the sky, creating small shadows in which Mason hid. Mason only nodded in response. "Follow me towards the movie theater," uttered Dr. Stiner. He proceeded to jaunt towards the theater with Mason close behind.…

When I was a child I always though about business. I wanted to know how things worked, how money worked. As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

My talent is creating, and my form of creating is writing. Writing is a thing I've been doing since I was in the seventh grade. I started writing then because of a troublesome past, both my mother and my father had left my two other siblings and I all alone, leaving us with our uncle. It was very hard for me to adjust, I was fatigued and emotionally hurt, I turned to writing. My love for writing grew into a bigger part of my life when I kept dream journals.…

Whether we know it or not in this modern society we are writers everyday of our lives. These interactions shape not only how we communicate but how we write as well. Personally, I have been shaped by the influence of both other writers I have known and those I have only read the creations of. Those same influences contributed to both my writing style in the classroom and to my identity as a writer. I spent a lot of my childhood with my nose deep in fiction novels at near by libraries.…

This past Sunday I attended the school play, which was a comedy based along the storylines of The Christmas Carol. I noticed many people from the community brought their children along for the comedy. For someone who doesn’t really care for plays, or Christmas it was somewhat interesting to go into the play having doubts beforehand and coming out of it with a different view. The exposition started off the same as The Christmas Carrol.…

I learned many new skills, but the most important one involves English and how to write properly. As for the first writing, I really did not understand what was right and what was wrong. Because I never paid close attention to specific rules in how to write. I truly believe it has been hard for me.…
