This summer I got my license and took a little adventure. My two friends Cloe, Teya, and I were bored and didn’t have anything to do, so we decided to go to Maryville. We went to Workman’s Chapel, which is right outside of Maryville. Workman’s Chapel is an old haunted church and cemetery. The story behind Workman’s Chapel is that a preacher stabbed a woman in a white dress to death and hid the knife under the floor boards of the church.…
3:39. I remember the time that her mother spoke the terrible words that still send chills down my back. “ Riley, Sheryce has passed away” I dropped to the ground. My lungs burning as I tried to gasp for air.…
As a young armadillo growing up in Texas during the 1820s, my life was peaceful and happy. The Federalists who held power in Mexico left me, my fellow armadillos, and the Anglo Americans alone to enjoy and work the land. However, in 1829, the Centralists gained control of the Mexican government and the freedom we enjoyed gradually eroded. As the Mexican government imposed more regulations on the Anglo Americans, the tension which had existed between the two groups due to the Nacogdoches land grant, become even more palpable.…

When I was 16 I moved to from California to Texas. During this time, I assume everyone in Texas wears a cowboy hat, boots, talks in a southern accent such as saying y’all and other such stereotypes. I assume the general understanding of Texas from what I was taught as a kid in movies, music, and shows. Once I moved to Texas that that type of thought was used against me, my classmates assume I probably l go to the beach and surf and have met plenty of celebrities when I lived in California. This is an example of REPRESENTATIVENESS HEURISTIC to judge or presume a someone or something relying on past experiences and mental representations to a new situation creating a particular group.…
The crisp breeze rustled my hair as I walked out of my house on the fall September day with my dad drilling instructions into my head. It was my first Little League baseball game ever, and my dad wanted to make sure it wasn’t my last. Being seven years old and never touching a baseball was something that had scared me; a lot. I had no idea what to think about this foreign, petrifying, game could possibly be about. The car ride from my house was only a few minutes away from the fields where I would begin my baseball career.…
“Don't be afraid of change. You may end up losing something good, but you will probably end up gaining something better !” -unknown. Two years ago I moved from my home in Blue Springs where I was comfortable and serene to this new foreign small town that I’ve never even heard of before now. Back in Blue Springs I was in “the crowd”.…

A harsh wave of heat swept past her face as she looked into the unruly abyss ahead. A car approaching ahead of her, the dust clouds came to a halt and one of the car's front doors and one of the back doors opened promptly. Two heavily armoured men jumped out with stern faces and big rifles. Out of one door came a man. He was dragged to the side escorted by these two men.…
Living in Texas is not what people portray it to be. I have never been to a rodeo, I have never owned a pair of cowgirl boots, and “Howdy” is nowhere in my vocabulary. However, I do have big hair and have a slight Southern accent. I live in a big suburban city called Arlington. I love my state and my city.…
Here I sit, staring at the beaming light of my family's computer writing an essay at the nineteenth hour of the day. I’m not complaining after all It’s quite relaxing, with a bit of music as well as pure silence amidst the remainder of my parent’s residency. Considering myself a great writer is something I’ve never done, nonetheless I enjoy it. I have been a Texan all my life, having been to a few parts of the country it remains my favourite state. Austin, Texas is my birthplace I lived there for the first ten years of my life, six years ago we moved to San Antonio to enable visiting my outer family circle extra often.…
Teaxes It took forever to get in the car to go to Texas. Once we got in the car it was so crowded with six of us in there on top of that we had covers and pillows to. When we got close to Abelin the trees got shorter and shorter. It was so cool to watch the height of the trees go down because we crossed a beautiful river when I could see the trees go down.…
Throughout my life, I have been the victim of several burglaries. At the age of seven, someone, in broad daylight, broke into our house and shot my dad in the chin. I was displaced to my aunt's house for weeks and missed most of my 1st grade year. When I was seventeen, I walked in on my home being robbed by some local kids. They were upstairs when I came into the house and escaped through a window, but the idea that I could have come home earlier still haunts me.…
We had to go down to the first floor then we got off and we were walking around all the shops trying to find a souvenir. I finally found a hand carved turtle that I really liked and bought. Then my stepdad said we had to get to the docks to get on a boat to go fishing. After a lot of walking we made it to the docks and a boat pulled up, we got in and started zooming away. After a while one of the boat guys started pulling these huge fishing rods out and setting them up.…
We eventually went to sleep and the next day we went to DollyWood. We had gotten tickets online, and it seemed pretty cool on the website. When we had got there, we were amazed. It was really nice there, and they had many things to do. For example, roller coasters, gift shops, mini games, and food stand.…
