Interviewer:What did you hope to experience in the Andes?
Rosemarie Alecio:I could not wait to experience the beauty and depth of the Andes.Looking up to the mountain , all I could imagine was my husband and, I on top of the magnificent Venezuelan Andes. The height of the ridged and sharp angles was the finest I've ever witnessed. We gazed up at the rugged and rough shape of the Andes as it looked more immense as we drove closer. I recall ,I couldn’t have waited until I could climb the peak of Pico Boliva ,which was the highest peak in Venezuela. As soon as we climbed Mérida , we were welcomed by the exquisite view of the bone-white ground with a ghost-grey mist. The small village ,Los Nevada's, was one of the finest of many adventures, I had the honour to experience. In fact , I'm very glad that I brought my camera along. I have taken a variety of different pictures of the beautiful mountainous area.As well as a video, which captured the nirvana noise of

The chill would be unbearable, even with heavy clothes put on.The sun radiation is severe and thus requires a strong sun block cream. The UV radiation can also cause a headache, so my advice would be to wear a cap.In addition to, I wouldn't advice anyone with mental or physical weakness to climb.Firstly, there will be distressing muscle torture. Your muscles will most likely be sore. Secondly ,to continue you need to be very dedicated and ambitious to really climb to the peak , to surely experience the beauty of the Andes.I advise to carry food along ,perhaps cookies and chocolate bars. Do not forget to carry an aid box.To conclude, always be prepared and trained for anything , a mountainous area has some danger factors that wouldn't come on ones mind. Have a planned trip and be trained to handle extreme situations. Over and above that, do not forget your camera or you will regret not saving the

A reoccurring theme in Alive: The Story of the Andes Survivors is God being with people at even the most difficult times. The survivors of the Fairchild were all devoted Christians before the crash. This traumatic experience brought them even closer to God during their time in the Andes. This spiritual change is shown throughout the book where the survivors find God in the rough landscape. Canessa and Parrado took off down the mountain alone, freezing, and with little hope that their expedition would succeed.…

The Incan Empire, at its peak, extended over 2,600 miles of South America spanning almost the entire western coast of the continent (D’altroy 3). A large portion of its kingdom was mountainous villages and communities, all functioning at altitudes surpassing 13,000 feet (McKay 307). The Inca developed a large empire in the Andes due to the successful management and intelligent use of the land coupled with their unique physiology. All my life I have wanted to go on a mission trip to help mentor those in need. So when the opportunity came to go to Jicamarca, Peru I was extremely excited to be a part of the team being shipped off. Before going to Peru we were put through a “special” type of training. During this training we were taught what we were going to be speaking about, a skit, and a ballet dance. So when we went to Peru we would be ready for anything, at least that’s what I thought.…

I have experienced much grace through the trouble and poverty I have witnessed through my mission trips to Guatemala. I went to Guatemala June 9-16, 2014, and August 4-11, 2015 (and I plan on going back August 2016). Seeing the conditions these people live in daily, has helped me take to heart the kind of help they are in need of. Many of these people have no home, no family or no money to provide for their family, yet they are still thankful. Most of the time little boys and girls won’t have any shoes on their feet or their clothes will be far too small.…
