Personal Narrative: My Experience As A Registered Nurse

I have over 4 years experience working in mental health as a registered nurse during which time I have acquired a great wealth of knowledge and clinical experience in management of mentally ill patients. I have excellent knowledge and have also effectively demonstrated to continue advancing in mental health nursing management skills. This has been evident through my current role where I had not previously managed Electroconvulsive therapy(ECT) patients and now I am a reliable and efficient member of the nursing team whom other staff consult in regards to ECT patient or matters. I have continued to develop confidence in this role. Over the past year I have been coordinating ECT services and have been providing education on ECT to patients and have been a resource person to the multidisciplinary team, patients and their careers at MIMIDI PARK. My role also involves dealing with dealing with clients who have challenging psychiatric illnesses and behaviour problems. I have excellent skills in managing this group of patients both older adults and young adults as has been evidenced though my shift coordination both in Older Adult and Adult in patient units. I have continued to provide direct clinical care to mental health patients and have been managing patients pre and post ECT treatment within MIMIDI PARK Mental Health unit. …show more content…

    As a future register nurse and as a woman I feel that a have a tremendous responsibility to give back to my community.
