There are many stories told in my family. Anyone and everyone told them, some nights it would be my mom and other nights it would be my grandpa. There would always be two stories read; the first one would be from a book called “My Book of Bible Stories”. This book has so many pictures asks questions has descriptive words and is still one of my favorite books. After that story whoever was telling the story would make up a silly story usually about a blue or green man with a giraffe that went traveling and exploring (I have no clue why).…

Many people don’t know what they want to be when they “grow up”, as for my mother she didn’t know what type of religion she wanted to be in when she “grew up”. However, she did know the basics that she believed in which was God, the Holy Spirit, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Bible that being said she considered herself Christian and raised me as a Non-Denominational Christian. That was until my senior year of High School when my mom decided she no longer wanted to be part of the Non-Denominational Christian faith and switched over to becoming part of the LDS faith known as the Mormons and flipped my life upside-down with their different views of norms and values. Growing up Non-Denominational Christian is fairly simple faith and to me…

Neglecting Religion Family trips, vacations and roadtrips are always a fun thing to do with family. Even if it’s just going out of town for the day, going camping for the weekend or even leaving the State or Country for a few days or weeks. When going on these trips, you usually expect the best of it and don’t seem to think of the negatives, like something terrible happening. I myself have been on family vacation and roadtrips many times before. My family and I always have a great time when going on these trips and never expect or try to think of anything bad happening.…

The Unknown Religion The sun was out, the air was warm, it was the perfect Sunday and my family and I were getting ready to leave for the Gurdwara, also known as the Sikh temple. Ever since my brother and I were children, our parents instilled a weekly routine of attending our local temple every Sunday afternoon. Although some children might say it was boring to sit for ninety minutes listening to hymns, and sermons, I enjoyed going to the Gurdwara. After the sermons, we ate langar, which was a free meal welcome to all, where I was able to eat great food, socialize with my friends, and do seva.…

On August 26, 2005, I gave my life to Christ, and it was the start of a whole new chapter of my journey. I still remember that night vividly in my head. The feelings of excitement, joy, and love were very tangible in my heart. My mom and dad were both sitting beside me on my bed while I was told the importance of this decision and how my life would never be the same. Even at 5 years old, I was aware of my decision to follow Jesus and accept him into my heart.…

An individuals’ conception of god is typically shaped by their familial structure and, I believe, people tend to not question the religion they are raised in. Usually, this does not happen until they hit puberty and start to denounce their parents’ value. No one is born with knowledge about a certain moral code, so those concepts are inherited through the teachings of a family. One is not born knowing that it is bad to hit someone just like how you are not born knowing a language. It seems to mostly be based on a faith or their environment.…

the motto for our country is "In God We Trust", so maybe all those that are believers in God should stay and just do as they were instructed by Jesus to love and serve others as He showed them by His example and His love, but always keeping their hearts and minds on God and things above. The bible is pretty clear about Christians seeking the kingdom of God first, and to walk by faith not by sight. There are many scriptures that discuss God 's grace which was shown by Jesus laying down His own life for His friends, so that the sins of this world would all be covered, and Jesus took our sins, bore our illnesses, he was chastised for our inequities and by His stripes we are healed and His blood washes all sins away from anyone that will just…

For many years I have wrestled with this one problem that I had with my Jesus. I have read a thousand times about his power and might and how there is not anything he cannot do. I have read a million times of his love for me as an individual and also of his love for children. I fell in love with what Jesus represented to this waif of a child, with no power of her own. However, in the back of my mind there echoed one question, “why did you let me be hurt so badly?”…
