Personal Narrative: My Career Clusters

Superior Essays
Here recently, I have been putting some thought into what career I should go with. In our ELA class, I have been searching for possibilities on CFNC.org. One of my goals for this paper if finding a suitable job for me. A second goal I have is being able to find a nice college that has a degree in my career. Finally, I hope my paper will help make the decision easier for me.

My Basic Skills Survey showed my strongest areas were Learning strategies, Reading Comprehension, and Writing. My lowest areas were Monitoring, Active Learning, and Critical Thinking. The jobs that correspond with my strong and weak spots were honestly not what I was expecting and kind of surprised me. Some jobs it suggested for my strong areas were Jeweler and Counter/Rental

This survey was more helpful because it asked about things that I enjoy, then applied my answers to jobs that correspond with my answers. The Career Cluster Survey showed I would work well in Arts, Audio-Video Technology and Communications. My second best was Human Services and my third was Hospitality and Tourism. My lowest points were Business, Management and Administration, Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources and Transportation, Distribution and Logistics. After I spent some time looking in the career clusters I was strong in, I found a few that spark my interest. I believe I found my dream job in the Arts, Audio-Video Technology and Communications.

The career I have chosen is Acting. Long story short, Actors act. They put themselves into the shoes or the characters and became completely immersed in their world. I think being able to become a different person that lives another life in a different world is what drew me into wanting to act. Actors are mostly considered self-employed, but each has an agent who helps them get auditions.
Actors, Directors, and Producers hold around 69,000 jobs in Motion Pictures, Stage Plays, Television and Radio and typically make $42,307 Average Annual Wage, although hourly wages depend on the movie/ tv show/

Those colleges are Campbell University, Elon University, Greensboro College, Guilford College, and University of North Carolina at Greensboro. All of these are great colleges, but I would want to get into University of North Carolina at Greensboro the most. UNCG offers a Bachelor’s Degree in acting. To get this degree I will have to attend UNCG for four years. Since UNCG is in Greensboro and I live in Winston-Salem, I will probably just continue living at home. The In-State annual tuition is $7,029. As for paying for the tuition, my mom and dad have been saving up money since my brothers were born, but they decided not to go to college so, I get to use that money and we have continuously been saving more money since then. Of course, I would get a job myself to get some more money for stuff like food, clothes, bills and all of the basic living

Three careers that would be well suited for me are a cost estimator, an operations research analyst, and a conservation officer. Two of these careers involve quantitative thinking and mathematical skills, while the third career involves enforcing laws and regulations and working outdoors. I researched this job because it involves mathematical skills on a daily basis.…

This test has six categories that you can fall under, which include doers, thinkers, creators, helpers, persuaders, and organizers. After completing this test, I found out that I was mainly a doer, a helper, and an organizer. I think that these three types fit me very well, because I love to exercise or compete in athletics and sports, like a doer would. I also like to help others with injuries, like helpers, and also I like to be precise and accurate, like organizers. Some careers that match up with the results I got are teacher, athletic trainer, and veterinarian (“Interest”)…

Now that I am progressing toward my graduation, with about 2 to 3 semesters left it is essentially required that I begin to come up with an end game action plan that I will follow as closely as possible. Following an action plan like this will assist me if I ever come to the point of wondering what to tackle next, or if I become lost. This action plan will not be set in stone, but rather something I mold as I progress towards my end goal, which I have already set for myself by visiting with a career advisor and going through an initial evaluation. My end goal by the time of graduating is to be in a position of having a full-time job offer at a corporate company working as a Financial Analyst. To begin, I will address the actions I have done and plan to accomplish while still in college.…

Rather it be planning someone’s big day, helping parents get back on the right track, numbing their pain for labor, or just simply making them feel pretty for a day! -Education & Training-…
