Personal Narrative: My Car Murderer

Improved Essays
Alright Hunter, do you understand what I am telling you? “Yes” I say confidently. “So you are not going to stall this time?” My dad asks, white knuckling the handle in the car for dear life. “Absolutely.” I remarked. I threw it in 1st and released the clutch. My new car rejected the imperfect shift and stalled in the middle of the street yet again. People behind the little green car now decided it would be a good idea to pass this troubled vessel. Looks of sympathy and frustration flashed by. This was what took place on the day I bought my first car. It was a green Ford Focus hatchback, and I loved it every bit of it, even its unnatural green shell. That being said, I despised the fact initially of driving a manual. The learning process was a race against time however, with each stall I was sure my car was losing the little life it still had left in the 12 year old body. It didn’t help much that my dad …show more content…
I am equally sure that it has taken years of my dad’s life from the stress I have induced. If I didn’t learn how to drive this morning, I would have to cancel picking up my girlfriend later that evening. I could imagine myself calling her up and saying, “I am sorry to inform you but I can’t drive my car because I killed my dad and broke the vehicle because I am stupid.” This was not a call I was not prepared to make. I put my foot down firmly on what I now knew was the clutch, then put it into 1st. A successful cluck was heard of the gear dropping into place. I inched my left foot slowly backwards until the green machine grabbed hold of the clutch. The car inched slowly forward, as if hesitant of whether the user was going to abruptly kill it again. I then let it go all the way, which upset the car. It shook with frustration, but only for a moment until it regained its composure. I looked over at my dad, who I wasn’t sure if he was responsive, but gave me a half thumbs up through his hands holding his head

Ted's wishes By jacob Kothe When it comes to driving a stick shift manual car, you can get a little stressed out. What I mean by that when you're driving around the neighborhood with your instructor (my dad) he makes you turn, a lot stop on hills, and insures that you stop at a stop sign, when you think that he insures that you stop at stop signs you think of something else. You have to go up to the sign and push down on the clutch. And stop at the sign press down the gas and slowly let off the clutch. You would think that's pretty easy, but if you overload the transmission, then your car dies, you have to start it back up and if you you let of the clutch off to fast the car starts bouncing and won't stop bouncing so you just keep bouncing.…

On a beautiful clear morning of February the 19th, my mom picked me up from my class at the University of West Georgia, then we went to Waffle House to have a nice breakfast. We left from Waffle House, proceeding down Maple Street, and turned onto South Street and immediately onto Kenner Street. We then turned onto on the merging lane on South Park Street (US Hwy 27) heading south, we immediately halted to a full stop as vehicles moved from the middle lane into the merging lane in front of us, but at that time there were no vehicles behind us. As we waited to enter traffic, a car suddenly struck us from behind which caused the car to jerk violently forward, causing my mother’s chest to hit the steering wheel, and our heads and bodies to whip forward and then back.…

When I ride it's like the earth stops at every corner so I can check to make sure a, loud, car isn't roaring towards me. It's like that feeling in your chest that tells you that everything is going to be ok, yet your mind is screaming at you that it won't be. I ride because I was thought that you need to be active in life, but it was never about the one hour of activity time we are supposed to have growing up. it was much more than that. I didn't need help to ride, I needed help to face down my enemies, or conquer my dreams.…

The horrible cranking of the car struggling to move forward drowned out the cars rushing by, as I slowly inched along the highway. Ten hours earlier, I drove to work; The ice on the streets glistened. I was less than a mile away from work, taking the last curve on the roundabout, when my car slid into the curb. Slowly creeping to work, the car emitted a sound that would make anyone cringe. This was the first time I found myself at Christian Brothers Automotive.…

My first car was something that I greatly was looking forward to getting as a child and my interest in getting one grew, as the days got closer to my sixteenth birthday. The first car I owned was a Automatic Black 2004 Ford f-150 truck, which I discovered on a website called Craigslist. It was priced at five thousand nine hundred dollars with only eighty-four thousand miles on it, which in my case was great considering that I could only afford a seven thousand dollar car. The truck came with all manual locks and windows and also had a small amount of hail damage that could really only be seen at a certain angle. But even with reasonable price on the truck I still attempted to negotiate for an even lower price to further my luck.…

Fortunately in my life of existence I haven’t had to experience any major obstacles and/or hardships in my life. Learning how to drive my first car, which turned out to be a manual transmission over the summer break, shows an obstacle in my life. This type of endeavor greatly pushed me to the limit to solve this unforeseeable problem I had to overcome, because during this time I had no one to instruct me. I felt extremely out of my comfort zone, because I had to complete a task I set out to do that I had no idea on how to accomplish at first. I had to look through guides and tutorials at first to even figure out how to get going using the clutch and gear system.…
