I made plenty of friends when I joined the Bluettes, the academic english team, and student council. I had a place at this school, but that changed. My parents told me they bought a house. I was super excited! But, they said we need to move again. It was still eighth grade and not even second semester. In December, we moved to Franklin, Indiana. A whole new school, a whole new group of friends for the second time. This time was the hardest on me mentally; I cried everyday for the first month and didn’t make any friends for a while. One day I met a girl named Kara. She became my best friend and still is today. I became more confident at Franklin. I joined three choirs, student council, Business Professionals of America, and a freshman mentor. Like Ralph Waldo Emerson in his poem “From ‘Self-Reliance,’” I started to be my own person and I felt “what I must do is all that concerns me, not what the people think”(45). When Emerson says to trust yourself, take his advice. Be the best person you can be and do not be afraid of who you are. We all need that extra push to be comfortable.
