Personal Narrative-Johnny's Last Summer

Several days before the start of our last year in high school, my neighbor and I divided our time between hunting and surfing to end our summer. I really just wanted to go to the beach, but Johnny refused to give up the precious narrow window of time between the start of deer season and the start of the school year.
One day, he came into our house uninvited. He charged into my room with a rifle in his hands to wake me up at five in the morning to sit in the deer stand with him that we had set up in the deep, swampy woods behind our houses. This was a normal occurrence of his, seeing as nobody locked their doors in this little hicktown, especially not my mother.
Sully the Golden Retriever was on the ground sniffing for deer that might have passed by the corn pile that Johnny set under the stand. Despite being a birddog, Johnny insisted on training Sully to run deer like one of his hound dogs. I could have sniffed out deer myself, but sitting in the stand was the most I would do for Johnny so early in the morning.

I could smell Johnny's nasty sweat from not showering that morning. I could smell deer fur at bottom of the trees. I could definitely smell the box of moon pies in Johnny's bag.
