In the midst of these changes, I had one constant thing in my life, music. Long before I was able to understand what many songs meant, I have been in love with music. The times that I resided with my parents, I was surrounded by music. In addition to listening, my father played the guitar daily and sometimes played with a band. If my father was in a band, I would go with him when they would practice to watch and listen. Once I began living with my grandmother, music is how I dealt with the feeling of missing my parents. The artists I listened to were from a variety of genres, allowing me to experience many different emotions and reach new levels of appreciation. Consequently, I attempted to reach out and learn to play an instrument. At the age of ten, I began taking lessons in order to learn how to play the violin. After two years of violin lessons, I also began learning to play the piano. However, my grandmother could no longer afford for me to take lessons after my third year.
