When people act obnoxious and disrespectful, I would just like to go up to them and say “I was at about six there. Don’t make me go to ten”, a quote said by Dale in Step Brothers. My pet peeves involve the disrespectful actions of high school students. It really irks me when people in band just don’t play their music correctly or march properly. If we have been practicing the same song for a short amount of time, then I understand if most don’t pick up the notes right away.…

When I first heard that we were going to be doing another speech I honestly was not happy about it at all because like many of you I was ready for school to be done for the summer. I began to think about it though and instantly I had three books that popped into my head and I thought that this assignment was not going to be hard. The three books that came to mind was: Coming Back Stronger: Unleashing the Hidden Power of Adversity written by Drew Brees, Friday Night Lights written by Buzz Bissinger, and the last one was Through My Eyes: A Quarterback’s Journey written by Tim Tebow.…

It was the first time I have ever performed on the football field as a majorette; which is a very big accomplishment for me. As the drum major calls the band to attention, I pose and try to calm myself down. When the band starts playing, I start performing, but the thing is that it was nothing like doing during practice. This time I was not even thinking.…

To the ones who believe asking, “What are you?” is a valid conversation starter, I am multiracial and proud, but to simplify my ethnicities to others when asked, I identify myself as Asian. I was stereotyped because of how we are perceived in media and society. I spent years cowering in my own skin because others made me believe I was not Asian because of the size of my eyes, the color of my hair, and my personal interests. I was ashamed of what I looked like since I was convinced it embodied who I am as a person.…

People tried to blame the shooting on the video games Dylan and Eric used to play. The two were very into a game by the name of ‘Doom.’ Many tried to so that doom was the cause, but there is no way it can be, in doom you aren’t killing other humans, you are killing aliens and things not even on our planet! If the two can’t tell the difference between the real world and the virtual world, that in itself is a much bigger problem than the game. Once again future shootings would lead to more people protesting shooting or violent…

However, violent media does not correlate with the violent crime rate or the murder rate. In fact, the FBI’s violent crime statistics have dropped by 50% from 1992 to 2011, and the murder rate decreased by 54% from the same years. Notice that violent video games have been around since the late eighties and have only been increasing in violent and realistic content since then.
