The day that the sheriff's department broke down my door and searched my house was the day I decided I would never want to get into the world of drug using drug dealing. I was sixteen and living with my parents and my sister. At this time my parents had a friend who knew a drug dealer named Gabriel. My parents got acquainted with him one time and soon regretted it. He was dark skinned, wore glasses, and was around six feet tall. Gabriel would always come by our house strung out on some kind of drug. He would sell drugs to everyone on our block and would constantly try and sell some to my parents.

Meanwhile the cops that broke down our door were inside yelling and interrogating my parents. They asked questions like, “have you seen Gabriel lately?” and “When was the last time you saw him?”. they continued to ask questions about if we knew any of the things he had done and if they had anything to do with it. My parents didn't know much about where he was and didn't know what he did.. They continued asking question about what my parents had been doing for the past week. After a what felt like an hour of questioning, it became silent, they came outside, got in their cars, and left. I took my sister inside, and didn't ask what had happened, I just wanted to lay

The crisp breeze rustled my hair as I walked out of my house on the fall September day with my dad drilling instructions into my head. It was my first Little League baseball game ever, and my dad wanted to make sure it wasn’t my last. Being seven years old and never touching a baseball was something that had scared me; a lot. I walked to the front door to look through the peep hole but, due to my five foot stature, all I could see was the top of my porch. I listened quietly through the door. I never answered the door when I was home alone, some habit I had gotten after being reminded by my mother a thousand times, and I had a system worked out with my friends that they would yell through the door if it was them. I waited patiently but I heard nothing but flies buzzing and dogs parking from far away. I started to walk back to the office, chalking it up to the neighborhood kids when I heard my back gate open.…
