Personal Narrative Essay: What's Shooting An Elephant?

The scenario I chose is Shooting an Elephant. The guy that they called for when the elephant started to go crazy, was supposed to go and kill the elephant. He only brought his pistol just in case if the elephant went crazy he would just shoot and hopefully that would scare it away. The whole way there when he was walking there to see if it was real. He kept hearing stories about the elephant and they were all different, so he never believed any of them. All the people were excited for him to shoot the elephant so they could get the meat out of it, but he never planned on actually shooting the elephant. The whole time he never wanted to shoot the elephant but just because of everyone else wanted him to so he shot the elephant because when it came down to it he did not actually have to shoot the elephant because it was not doing any harm. He ended up leaving the scene because he couldn’t handle that fact he shoots the elephant for no reason and it was lying there suffering and slowly dying. That there proves that he was not in charge to shoot the elephant. If he was in charge he would have not shot the elephant just like he planned in the first place, but the thing he was in charge of the whole time was letting the crowd over power what he wanted to do by not shooting the elephant. Instead, he sloped down to their level to make them happy and so everyone would like him and not be angry with him because he didn’t shoot the elephant. It comes down to that he could have stayed in control of the situation if he did not care what the people thought, but instead he wanted to make them happy so he shoots the elephant then felt bad about it and left as when home while everyone says there and watched it
