I started a circle and we started to bump and set to each other. The clock started. Time to start practicing. Both teams practices together. Coach throws it up and we bump, set, or spike it back to him. “Buzzzzzz!” The score board announced. Time to get on the floor. I set and everyone else spiked. Then four minutes was up time to serve. We got to serve for two minutes and then time to play. Everyone in that two minutes got at least one or two serves over. Herala called us over and gave us the prep talk. “Buzzzzzz” it went again. One situation where I found myself in a fixed mindset was when I was a freshman at Mountain Pointe high school trying to make the baseball team. At the time, I had a half-hearted passion for baseball that made me want to be on the school baseball team, but I felt that everything would come natural to me because I was Dominican. I was quite proud of how Dominicans were typically great at baseball quite naturally it seemed. However, with this knowledge I became highly critical about everything I did when playing baseball at the high school camps before the baseball tryouts. I did not focus on overall improvement as I tried to ensure that every throw, batting, and pitch was perfect.…

You may only be at a ball park to witness a no-hitter once in your entire life, if ever. But to be on the team that is throwing one, an even rarer accomplishment. The possibility of being the pitcher to actually throw the no-hitter itself, almost the rarest feat in all of baseball. Excitement, adrenaline, rushed through me every time I threw the ball to home plate, and knowing that I was one pitch close to keeping the opposing team hitless. While playing some may think you feel the pressure of the game; however in my experience I felt stress free, which left my mind to only think about what pitch to throw next.…

I have learned so much from my dad about softball mainly because he would stay on me about it and never let me turn my head on the task he was trying to teach me. We would go to the ball fields and practice, practice, and practice. I would start getting aggravated at him cause it seems as if we would be there all day at times, but come to find out he only done it to make me better.…

Heywood Broun said, “Sports do not build character. They reveal it.” Consequently, I believe that being on my high school swim team was the one of the biggest revelations of my character. When I entered high school, I had to play a sport because it was my mom’s rule, “you will participate in minimally one sport”. As a result, my brother played football, ran track, and swam.…
