Personal Narrative: Drinking And Driving

As we enter adulthood, one thing that all of us inevitable learn to do is drive a vehicle. Whether our parents teach us or we take driver’s ed, driving in itself is an essential ability that we all must know to get by in life. That is why, in this entry, I am going to talk about the time I took Driver’s Ed. Last summer, my brother and I signed up for the Driver’s Ed program in New Hampton. This lasted most of our summer, and having to wake up early on summer mornings living on Pop-Tart breakfasts easily became a chore. We had to drive from Alta Vista to New Hampton, where our classes were held in the HS cafeteria. Often, we were assigned a chapter to read and questions to answer according to the content taught. Though, as said before, we took the packet chapter by chapter and that workload didn’t end up being much of a problem. However, this was just a small duty we had to accomplish. I personally found the drive times to be more entertaining, while nerve-wracking at the same time. We covered all the basics you could think of; that is the point of the class, after all. We practiced various parking methods, road maneuvers, how to enter a highway, and much much more. I remember struggling the most with switching lanes in downtown New Hampton and finding the best moment to stop at stop signs. Fortunately enough, I became accustomed to these maneuvers, and learned how to do them well in no time. Alongside this, I remember trying to get across an intersection with a yellow light once, and Mr. Kuennen hit his brakes saying to wait for the red light. I found this
