Money. The class rocket project was a testament to how much I enjoyed creative processes. I took great interest in constructing each piece beginning with the fins, followed by the body of the rocket and finally the parachute. My rocket was painted green and named "The Green Goblin" after the Spider Man villain that terrified me as a child. Mr. Money was there every step along the way, helping me to learn the basics of rocket building. This past summer I had the privilege of attending the Summer Academy at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). I was one of 120 people who were assigned the herculean task of creating a simulated mission to Mars. In order to accomplish our goal, we were divided into teams of 12. The group to which I was assigned had the task of supporting astronaut transit back and forth to Mars. While I encountered several inspiring program leaders, I most enjoyed meeting Astronaut Roger Crouch who shared his story of perseverance. Although his application was rejected numerous times, he was finally accepted to be an astronaut at age 47. While his story is atypical, I realized that hard work and passion are differentiating factors in one's ability to achieve
