Personal Narrative: Chris Nelson's Hard Work

¨The only regret that I have is I didn't do it sooner¨, this is a quote Chris Nelson used while him and I were sitting in his garage watching the MN Gopher Football game, when explaining his job and how he wished he would have tried to jump up in the ranks of a mechanic instead of just staying at the same rank he was for years. But after years of hard work and training he finally achieved his title of Elite-Master mechanic. Chris went through many years of training and took multiple difficult tests to earn his rank. Chris graduated college in 1984 from 916 Vo Tech with a degree in Auto Mechanics. After he finished college at Vo Tech, he did two years of apprenticeship to help him with his understanding of cars in the real world. He landed his first job within a month of graduating college at White Bear Dodge. He worked there for six years and after four of those years he finally decided that he wanted to become a higher ranked mechanic so he did everything he could to move up in the ranks, so he could be paid more. He wakes up at 6am and leaves for work at 7:15am. When he gets there he usually has cars right away that have problems that need to be fixed. He can fix almost any problem on a car and make it good as new. When he’s there his favorite part of his job is the satisfactory feeling he gets when he fixes a car and the customer is happy with it. And the least favorite part of his job is the physical abuse that it has on his body, after working on cars for 25 years your body can start to take a toll. A typical day for Chris is to fix about 3-6 major issues on cars and to do about 7-15 oil changes. He loves his job so much and if he had the chance to switch his job with any other job we wouldn’t do
