The program allowed me to take on various positions to serve my school. I assisted in the annual blood drive, served dinner to the senior citizens of the community and helped to organize a fifth quarter event for the underclassmen during homecoming week. All of these activities show I value others as individuals, show the younger generation cares about the older one, and shows that everyone serves a purpose in life. Another program I currently volunteer for is 4-H. I participated in 4-H for 10 years throughout which I engaged in countless volunteer and service opportunities. These events taught me how to be a better citizen, how to communicate with individuals from all over the world, and how to be a powerful leader. 4-H taught me to lead by example. By being a cloverbud camp counselor I set a high standard for the campers by staying out of trouble, being involved in the community, and encouraging others to do the same. 4-H trained me to be confident, and always follow every project through to the finish. As a multigenerational club, participants range everywhere from newborn babies to grandparents. As part of the middle generation, I help out when needed, I learn from the example set by my elders, and I teach what I learned from

“When we are no longer able to change a situation - we are challenged to change ourselves”( Viktor E. Frankl). Change is required through out the process of life. Some good and some bad, however, the change itself depends on the situation and how you approach it. Looking in the mirror back in 2011, I viewed myself in a different light than what I see today. Anti-social, self-disciplined, and maybe a little too hard-working added to the formula created a young student who was more concerned with higher grades than going to Six Flags with friends. Not to say those are horrible traits to have, but with a low number of close friends, I never experienced being a free-spirited kid. I didn’t have a sleepover nor did I attend parties, and the acquaintances of which I did communicate with seemed largely disinterested in my conversation topics. So naturally, when my seventh grade homeroom teacher offered me an opportunity to attend an exclusive school program, the occasion more than intrigued me.…
