Personal Narrative: Changing My Religion

It's normal over here to start learning different languages at an early age. In elementary school you get the basics, which are Dutch and English. And in the first two or three years of High school (it depends on your level) you get the basics, and in addition to that you get: German, French, and sometimes Spanish or Latin. When I was younger they would only subtitle cartoons, so you either learned how to read fast, or learn English. Ah, I never really thought of it like that. The times I did debate about my beliefs just weren't very nice debates. No, I don't think I'll ever adopt a different religion. I don't really see the point in that. And if I were to change my religion, I would never convert to Islam. I don't agree with their mindset. The Quran contains dozens verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule. …show more content…
Muslims who do not join the fight are called 'hypocrites' and warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join the slaughter. Quite upsetting. Ah yes, we probably have different bibles. What kind of version do you have? Hmm, when I was younger I had lots of benefits from being religious. It helped a lot with my loneliness, it sort of gave me a purpose, you know? I went trough a lot of shit growing up. Whenever I felt like no one loved or cared about me or even when I was ready to end my life, I would read the bible or pray. Ha, feels strange talking about it. Anyway, my friends don't really mind, I'm fortunate to have very accepting friends. How did your friends react to you being/becoming an atheist? No, the majority of the people in my country are

My personal narrative essay is about my transfer from Bible Baptist to Savannah Christian and my feelings towards the process of transferring and the first day at Savannah Christian. Overall the transfer was better than I presumed it would be because I sustained a better education than I did at Bible Baptist. The transfer taught me that sometimes change is for the greater good. If I had the ability to go back in time and tell my future self-something about this situation it would be not to be nervous just breathe. Finding out I was going to a new school could be compared to when I found out my first fish had died, heartbreaking.…

Many people don’t know what they want to be when they “grow up”, as for my mother she didn’t know what type of religion she wanted to be in when she “grew up”. However, she did know the basics that she believed in which was God, the Holy Spirit, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Bible that being said she considered herself Christian and raised me as a Non-Denominational Christian. That was until my senior year of High School when my mom decided she no longer wanted to be part of the Non-Denominational Christian faith and switched over to becoming part of the LDS faith known as the Mormons and flipped my life upside-down with their different views of norms and values. Growing up Non-Denominational Christian is fairly simple faith and to me…

This was a big move for me, because even though I grew up in the Christian faith as a Lutheran, I was doing everything in my power to deny the existence of God. In my mind, there was no way that the all loving and benevolent God that I always heard about could let the things that I saw on the battlefield ever…

A Muslim extremist who attacked a church in a central African country and tried to kill its pastor has embraced Christianity after a man with “nail-scarred hands” appeared and spoke to him in a vision. In mid-March, Ibn Yakoobi and other Muslim extremists attacked Christians gathered for a 21-day prayer and fasting period at the Assembly of Loving God (ALG) church armed with rods and swords, but the believers were saved through divine intervention, Bibles for Mideast details. When Yakoobi tried to kill the pastor, a giant warrior appeared and saved the minister. A massive thunderstorm also started raging, but a cloud shielded the Christians from the falling rain and hailstones that hit the assailants.…

My worldview closely resembles the Biblical Worldview described in the Charry text, but by no means is anywhere near where it could be. My Christian character will continue to develop and mature throughout my life as I continue to study the scriptures, commune with God in prayer, continually ask for repentance, and forgiving those who have showed transgressions toward me. L. Gregory Jones states, “Christian living requires a willingness to inquire after the God of Jesus Christ, an inquiry which shapes us a people of repentance and forgiveness” (Charry, 2000, p. 204). Repentance and forgiveness are two aspects of the Christian walk that I struggle with. There are many times that I get so busy with life that I forget to prayerfully repent…

As I stepped through the door into the foyer of the Islamic Foundation, I was struck first by how incredibly out of place I felt. I had arrived in time for the afternoon prayer, the Asr, and found myself surrounded by the hustle of those finding a place to sit and wait for the service to begin. Unsure of where I needed to be, I inquired and was directed to the back of the prayer room to sit and observe the proceedings. As both members of the community and fellow classmates began to take their places in the prayer room, I began to take in my surroundings.…
