Counselor: Hi Leslie, how are you? Good to see you. Thank you for coming and I appreciate that you come today”. “I wonder; what would you like to start with today?”
Leslie: I am considering quitting my current job as a math teacher in a suburban high school.
Counselor: Tell me more about the reasons made you think to quit your job.
Leslie: I feel overwhelmed with my current job as a math teacher because the stress of many responsibilities and long working hours. Also, the new principal has instituted administrative tasks to demonstrate teacher effectiveness and I feel insulted to experienced teacher because I have to keep a weekly log of the activities, I have to submit lesson plans for review, and file

Leslie: Yes, I have and it was quite beneficial, I wish Joe had joined me her in therapy.
Counselor: What do you expect from the career counseling?
Leslie: I hope that career counseling will help me to define my career direction; I expect to receive information and advice from you about my best career option. I am willing to take any test you recommend.
Counselor: I wonder what you are doing usually to spend a good time other than work.
Leslie: I enjoy several hobbies during the summer, including gardening and other outdoor activities, and teach swimming lessons at the local YMCA. I also volunteer at the science center and teach meditation class.
Counselor: Yes, this is during the summer, how about during the school year.

Counselor: According to the Holland’s theory and vocational personalities and work environment focusing on your characteristics and your environment, your personality type is investigative-social-conventional. Investigative means that you are independent, self-motivated, analytical, task oriented, and creative. Social means you are idealistic, like ethics, helping others, cooperative, kind, friendly, and understandable. Conventional means that you are practical, systematic, accurate, careful and controlled.
Counselor: Let us explain more, you are enjoying serving people, teaching, and social services and working independently and alone. You like to work with student’s one-on-one more than lecturing them. At the same time, you do not like to take a leading position but you like the developing system to make your job efficiency. You are curious and enjoy learning new things, and you prefer to feel that you accomplishing something especially when you have intellectual challenges.
