One particular circumstance that sparked the idea of attending college made me open my eyes at a young age to realize a higher education is important to succeed in the world. It started when I was talking with my parents about their choices and thoughts in high school, specifically, my mother. She was a straight A student throughout high school and when senior year came around, she applied to many colleges. One of the few was Cal State Fullerton.
She got accepted quickly and told the news to her parents and both were unimpressed. They simply said, "You must go to community college first so that you can prove to us that you are ready for a REAL college." To me, that was devastating. Not being able to go to a college because your parents
