At the beginning, I learned to put on a fake smile and work through my feelings. Over time, instead of pretending, I developed genuine pride, without jealousy, in my mentees. I began to understand that the most important thing was keeping a vibrant community of programmers and techies alive at my high school, not personally being the best. As the leader, I had to put aside my personal anxieties and encourage my mentees. I would like to research why humans fell the incredible amount of insecurity when someone they are mentoring becomes better at what they are doing, what it does to the relationship when this happens and ways to repair the relationship or the mindset of the mentor. I want to investigate this phenomenon in corporate and academic settings. I also want to research the “Queen Bee Complex” which is defined by a woman high up in an organization working to push others down. I want to see whether this a product of sexist thinking or bad research, or this really does exist more within females than males. The best primary source for this would definitely be interviewing, but these may be hard to come
