The wait was unbearable. My mom and I went to the emergency room at around 6pm and we didn’t even get called down until 10pm. My mom was furious. I guess the doctors at the hospital didn’t think my potential heart injury was serious enough, or they just didn’t care. My body filled with nervousness. My hands shook. I needed an answer to whether there is something wrong with my heart or not. Eventually, my name was called and my mom and I followed a nurse to our room. I then lay in bed and the nurse suggested to try and fall asleep until the doctor came. My mom sat on a chair off to the side. Cousino. You know, I would have never guessed that this would happen. That I would be injured. I see people get injured all the time, but it’s never me,” I explain.
“Well life has its ups and downs. Just like a roller coaster,” says Dr. Cousino. After that, my mom and I headed out.
Once a week went by my pain started to disappear. Then I started my physical therapy at the same place where my chiropractor worked. The chiropractor appointments and physical therapy began to seem very normal to me. Constantly getting my back readjusted and regaining my strength. I stopped physical therapy after only three sessions. Then I went back to the soccer field and began playing the sport I loved again.
Anything can happen at any point in time, whether you expect it or not. When I was first told by the doctor to go to the hospital if the pain came back, I thought back on how unexpected this was. A few days prior to getting injured I would have never guessed that I would be injured and potentially go to the hospital. There are things that are just unpredictable... Life is a blindfolded roller
