A Vacation in Hawaii
As I stepped off of the plane and took a deep breath I felt a rush of fresh humid air flow into my body. I could taste the salt from the ocean too. I couldn't believe we had made it! I had wanted to go there all of my life and there it was right before my eyes. My Friend Makenzie was right by my side feeling everything that I was. Her uncle and aunt were going to pick us up at the airport but they hadn't told us that they were there yet so we decided to look around at some of the gift shops while we ventured our way to the parking lot. There were lots and lots of souvenirs all the way from jewelry to silverware it seemed like they had every kind of souvenir one could imagine which was very overwhelming. Then I saw Makenzie’s mom waving us over to where she was standing. When we got to her she was saying “Look!” she pointed towards a man. I noticed he was holding up a piece of cardboard that read

One thing in particular is we went on a 2 mile hike which felt more like 5 because it was so blazing hot it must of been 100 degrees but when we reached our destination (a snorkeling spot) it was well worth the journey though. The view was stunning my eyes could barely take it all in. All of the fresh and strong colors were overflowing. The water was as clear as a diamond but still had a tint of turquoise color that looked enriched with minerals. You could see right through it to the very bottom but before your eyes could even get close to reaching the bottom one would notice that the water was teeming with all sorts of sea creatures anywhere from vibrant fish to sea cucumbers that blended in seamlessly with the coral and huge rocks. Once we finally got all of our snorkeling gear on and got into the water, Makenzie and I would try to talk to each other under water because we were so excited we could barely understand each other but I think we both got the message that we were trying to get

A metaphor to thoroughly interpret my own cultural identity would be the coconut delicacy known as Haupia. Not only for its elegant perplexion, but for the soft clouded stature that belongs to this alien creature, which taste is only permitted to the fortunate few occupying the native islands of Hawaii. Another perplex root in the tree of my culture is Lei-making. The breathtaking row of an aligned set of flowers to form the Lei is one of the prime connections to the base of the hawaiian culture by contributing to the ancient craft itself. A more well-known phenomenon that had one of its origins among the islands of Hawaii and is still dwelled upon to this day is surfing.…

One year ago I went on a cruise to the Bahamas, to Freeport and Nassau. They were both very beautiful and amazing places. My parents, having been to Jamaica, said that Nassau and Freeport didn’t even compare to the beautiful water and beaches of Jamaica. They said that your eyes are captivated by the gorgeous exotice plant life and the colors of birds. The smell of the ocean hits your nose and the warmth of the sun immediately touches your skin.…

It’s late at night and I feel very hungry, I really don’t want to wake up anyone in the house so I just sneak out of my room to the kitchen. With my stomach grumbling, I open the fridge and take out a chocolate milk carton. I look around to make sure I haven’t woken anyone up and I took a long quenching drink directly from the milk carton. I then close the carton and put it back in the refrigerator.…

I can still remember the sound of the waves crashing onto the shore, the feel of the bright sun shining down onto my skin, the seagulls cawing in the distance, the smell of the salty water in the air, and the feel of the sand on my bare feet. Have you ever had piña colada in the sunset? Well, it’s unforgettable. Ever since I was six months old, I have been fortunate enough to visit the place that I love with all of my heart.…

Bahamas The trip I would like to go on is the Bahamas. It has to be a fun place to go because everyone goes there. Once you’re there you can do many things. It would be nice to see the ocean because it looks different than the one at Myrtle Beach and they say the sand there is pink so it would be a nice thing to see because I have never been to a pink sanded beach.…

The Bahamas is a peaceful set in its own way to where there are many spectacular views that caught one’s eye. This is one place where I could just sit forever, with stretches of powder- white sands on Nassau Paradise Island- with an average water temperature of 80 degrees that everyone would enjoy a fantastic white sandy beach adventure every day. With their array of luxury boutiques, local shops and world-famous straw market- not to mention duty free prices-on one hand and on the other they can get pretty expensive at their retail finest. The Bahamas restaurants are always their fresh catch of the day, with their exclusive bar & grill island getaway never taste so delicious.…

The slopes on this mountain path were incredibly terrifying to go down; while going down the hill the reality of the situation was that I had near zero control over how I was moving. When we got to the top of the mountain the view was incredible and terrifying at the same time; we saw the piercing blue water and crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean and the lush green mountains and jungle of Costa Rica at the same time. In Belize (two years ago), the most memorable experiences were of our snorkeling trips in Belize. We met up with our in-house guide and he took us out on his boat to the local coral reef, and when we got fairly deep in the water he gave us the snorkeling equipment, showed us how to get in, and dropped in. We swam around for a…

We got on our snorkel gear and jumped in the Caribbean Sea. I had never snorkeled before so I was nervous, but I got the hang of it after a while. I saw all sorts of fish and even a sea turtle. It was so pretty underwater, but after about thirty minutes, we had to get back on the catamaran to go to another location to snorkel. When we got to the Coral Gardens, it was very different from the Barrier Reef.…

Growing up with a ranching family means we rarely get time off from work or school to do fun or exciting things like ordinary families. When any opportunities come for us to go on small trips, we take them. With that, for the past ten years my dad has made vacation an annual occurrence. Vacation for us represents getting a “reward” for having a successful year of work and school year. Vacation is also a time where my entire family and I can wind down and relax for a week without having to worry if the cows had gotten out or if we had remembered to turn off the pivots to water the crops.…

Some might call education sitting in desks and copying vocabulary words out of textbooks. Others might say its learning from your mistakes. I believe the most education you can get comes from getting out of your comfort zone and trying new things. One of my personal life goals is to experience as much as I can with the time I have on Earth. Keeping life interesting and exciting is a necessity.…

Only few events in one person’s life change how they see the world with their senses. The trip I made to Anna Maria Island last summer was one of these moments. The multiple sights, smells, tastes, and the sound and feel of the beach give you a whole new sense of the world around you. It tells you about the people who live there, what they eat, what they do in their free time, and so much more. Our five senses opens us up to so many different things that impact our lives, and my trip to Anna Maria Island is the moment that has impacted how I see the world the most.…
