It was a perfect pass, and it went directly to me. With my tired looking knee pads, I sprinted halfway across the court to get the ball that is now descending from its highest point to the ground. Another four feet away from me and I know that if I do not get down on the floor then I will not have enough time to save the ball. Trying not to slam my knees too hard into the ground, I then get the ball just before it hits the ground. Now I finally hit the floor, and slam my side into the ground. But I ignored it. I went back to my spot on the court, and wait for the ball to come back over the net again. The opponent served the ball, and we sent it back over. The passes were perfect, and I hit the ball so hard that my hand hurt. I watched it as

It was a warm spring afternoon on April 26th 2015, around 5 pm. I was 13 at my 3rd all star district championship game, playing one of the best teams in our league. Nestled in the pines, under the hot scorching sun, I was on the dirt stained pitching mound. As I wiped the sweat from my brow I look up as Hunter walks up to the plate. Hunter was a good friend of mine who showed me the curve ball at baseball practice the following season before.…

People coming from a different planet would think every day things we do in life are weird. What we have adapted to and think are normal look very weird to others who haven’t seen people doing things like this. Such as someone who has never shaved before would think that is very odd to shave your beard. Or someone who has never seen a drive threw would think it’s weird to have people have food handed out the window. The baseball field is where I spend most of my weekends and evenings with my family “cheering” on my brother. In reality, when I get there, I have parents waiting for me to watch over the younger siblings of the baseball players playing that day. One of my favorite memories from the field was when I handed the kid I was watching a package of gummy worms, and he looked up at me with his smile hidden under his chubby cheeks. When I was younger, I would always look up to teenagers because I felt that they had some sort of coolness since they were the “big kid.…

One of the keys coming into the playoffs was to generate a pass rush to take the pressure off of a beleaguered secondary that was ravaged by injuries late in the season. They did exactly that on the first play for the Seahawks it was a tackle for loss the next play was a pick six by Luke Kuechly throwing a haymaker up 14-0 just 3 1/2 minutes into the game a magical start they continued through the first half. The pressure we were able to generate was a sight for sore eyes, as the outside guys hadn't gotten a sack since the Thanksgiving showdown against Dallas. It was great to see us force Russell Wilson into bad decisions and put them behind the chains with four sacks.…

The bright sun was beating down on my face as I squinted to see the score. 9-9 with a minute left in the game. I was wearing my low cut tank top with a number sixty-six on the back and my black kilt with a Bethel Park hawk on the lower right. My white cleats were stained from the freshly cut grass and I had a bruise on my right knee from falling down. I looked through the grey metal cage of my face mask and bit down on my mouthguard determined to win the game.…

Basketball lasted through middle and high school, but nevertheless, I learned quickly that college basketball was not my next step. Joy and happiness carried my teammates and I through every season, although the yelling would start when laughing was the only activity at practice. Even though the cheerleaders’ voices at Goose Creek High School filled the gym, however, my teammates and I filled the gym and the lobby. The game of basketball is mesmerizing because it keeps everybody on the edge of their seats with every shot that goes in, every foul that is called, and especially when a dunk occurs. Unfortunately, in high school girls did not have the ability to dunk, but it was fascinating to watch my teammates play.…
