Personal Narrative: A Hot Day In San Diego

Improved Essays
It was a hot day in San Diego. I can only guess what time of year, because my little brain had no use for days and months. My parents took advantage of the weather and drove us down to the beach. After being slathered in sunscreen, my parents let me wander around. The sun was in my eyes and the saltwater splashed at my chubby little ankles.
My dad took my hand as we walked into the surf. We got deeper into the waves and suddenly he disappeared. I found myself all alone in the ocean. It felt like there was no one for miles. I searched and searched for the familiar green of my father’s swim trunks. While I was looking, a wave caught me off guard. It hit my back and I flipped head over heals underwater. I imagined myself swirling under the waves

Growing up in Southern California we spent most of our summers at Lake Havasu and Parker. For as long as I can remember, getting to spend my summers on the lake with my close friends and family was what got me through the school year, knowing that for a full month I would have no cares in the world except for what adventures lay ahead of us. As the school year came to an end, all we could think about was getting to the lake to start our last summer together before we all ventured off in separate directions. Starting to pack and load up the RV was all I could think about for days, seeing as this was the last summer we would all spend together.…
