The wrestling world is usually dominated by men, but every once in awhile a girl comes into it and takes control. As I stepped onto the mat, I saw my parents with a huge smile, and my coach and team were clapping and proud that I was out there, at least I hope, it was more of a blur to me. Even when I lost a match, which was just about all of them, everyone encouraged me to continue on and I did and it made me a different and better person.
Coming into freshmen year, I was the quiet unnoticed one. I could almost go through a class without being noticed or having my name brought up. My brother

Now that high school was here and I didn't have a winter sport I decided to be a manager for the wrestling team with one of my friends, this way I could get a ride home with my brother instead of the bus. It was an easy task, and I learned a lot from watching practices but not enough to prepare me for what was coming. As the season went on, it was becoming noticeable that there was something missing from the team, and no one else could get there. It was the lightest weight on the team. With every meet came 6 points for the other team because we would have to forfeit the match and this would end up determining which team won. A few meets into the season the coach started to joke around that I should join the team, then he got the entire team involved in convincing me to join as well as my parents. Close to the middle of the season, I was finally convinced to give it a try. The first practice was fun, but by day three, breathing hurt and I was thinking about throwing in the towel on this crazy idea. But I kept with it because so many people

Reflecting on my years as a member of the Silver Starlites I realize I would not be where I am today if it were not for the influence of my parents, teammates, Starlite parents and my four magnificent coaches, who surprisingly managed to put up with my antics for ten years. It is because of their encouragement and support that I have truly learned what it means to be disciplined, audacious, dedicated, a role model and most importantly a champion. Our competitions came around two and occasionally three times a month, this meant that if I were not home doing my school work I was sure to be in the gym practicing my butt off while my mom repeatedly nagged about how bad my free hand was or that my showmanship and eye contact was not enough, not to mention her eye rolls every time I dropped. It was excruciatingly frustrating to know that it…

Back when I was in high school, at the age of eighteen, I wrestled for the Francis Howell Central team. I played the sport with a passion, even though it wasn’t my favorite. There were tons of stories and memoires that I made over the years, however there is one that would go down in my schools history. One of my favorite memories of high school wrestling, that would be the moment when I saved the team by winning the last match and beating one of our rivals, Timberland. The people I'd like to take to dinner are John Cena, my biological father, and my stepdad, because my "dads" need to agree on an issue and John Cena is there just in case they get rowdy. John Cena is one of the well-known wrestlers whose famous saying is, "You can't see me!" This dinner would allow me to ask him a few questions, such as, "Why can't many people see you?"…
