Personal Narrative: A Career In Theatre

Decent Essays
Some of my favorite memories from my childhood come from theater. Both of my parents are actors/singers. My mom acts full time and my dad acts in-between his main job. I grew up completely surrounded by theatre. One of my favorite sounds in the world is listening to singers warm up and orchestras tune. In high school, I worked on 4 shows as a stage manager. I am extremely proud of the hours and labor put into my time in that office, and I really enjoyed training my replacement. In the future, I would love to work on ONU Theatre. I am also very excited about taking human anatomy classes. I really love physiology and I can’t wait to learn more about it. I am also looking forward to the spiritual aspect of Olivet. I attended only public schools

The first Broadway musical I enjoyed was Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I was about thirteen years old. It was more elaborate than the small performances at Disney World. The Delusive Dramatist from Myslenice The girl sat in the corner of the train car, she rotated from rocking herself back and forth in a fetal position and singing to herself softly. Every once in awhile she would pull out her notebook and scribble in it, only when she was sure that no one else was looking, or so she thought. All hours of the day she spoke to herself, setting a tense scene, I could feel the lies as she spoke them, nothing she told herself was true. She knew it, I knew it, but it seemed to be the only thing she had left.…

There is a moment for everyone where they realize their goals and aspirations. Once they do, nothing will stop that person from achieving their goals. For me, my whole life has led up to me pursuing a filmmaking career, and nothing is going to stop me. Film is one of many influences that made me the man I am today. In my pursuit to becoming a filmmaker, I have been blessed with friends that shared similar interest in filmmaking, opportunities to work on independent film productions as well as other short film documentaries, and motivations to be a smarter and better person.…

Growing up, I was always a hard worker. At age nine I sold enough newspaper subscriptions to win a bicycle in my hometown of Allegheny, Pennsylvania. It was also at that age, that I was fortunate enough for my family to travel to New York for my career. At age thirteen, I was a chorus girl and later on when I was fifteen, I performed at Pan- American exposition in the “Trip to the Moon” exhibit. At age sixteen, I had an opportunity to perform in Mr. Bluebird along with my mother at the Iroquois theater.…

My response to this selection is that Hornak made right decision, even though it took her long time to realize, but it would be hard for me If I were to change my career. It would be hard for me because I know I spent a lot time to study and it costs me a lot too. But I personally believe that we all need money, but I would also want to pick the major that I would enjoy in and which would make me proud. For instance, I like to help others…

Three careers that would be well suited for me are a cost estimator, an operations research analyst, and a conservation officer. Two of these careers involve quantitative thinking and mathematical skills, while the third career involves enforcing laws and regulations and working outdoors. Due to my interest in working outdoors I have chosen conservation officer as the best career opportunity for me. The first job I researched is a cost estimator. I researched this job because it involves mathematical skills on a daily basis.…

Making It to the Big Time I am Vincent Crabtree. When I was a freshman in High School, I participated in an activity called “Winter Percussion”. It was much like marching band, but it took place during the winter and spring season, and it featured a smaller ensemble composed mostly of percussive instruments. At the moment what I really need to do is as simple as focusing on the here and now; I need to make sure that I continue to put hard work into everything I do. To start with, I need to maintain my grades, I’ve had a 4.0 grade point average since middle school and in order to get into a good college I need to maintain that. In addition, I also need to keep up with my extracurricular activities; by joining clubs, volunteering, and doing other activities outside of school, I’m able to create a solid resume for myself. Finally, I need to make sure to work to get scholarships, and other forms of financial aid to gain the support I would need to pay for college. My goals are a bit out of my reach at the moment, but I’m sure…

When the word “home” is defined in a dictionary you are given definitions like “the place in which one’s domestic affections are centered” or “any place of residence or refuge” but to me home means so much more. To me, home is theatre. Those who know me well will attest that the change in me throughout this experience is drastic. Theatre transports me to places I couldn’t dream of otherwise and two years ago, I was taken to a place that would change my life forever and theatre transformed to the place I call home. Thoughts and ideas flooded my mind as I stepped into the off-green colored cafeteria.…

It may be hard for some people to remember every detail about a past memory, especially when it had occurred so long ago. I was born with Arnold Chiari Malformation, a congenital defect in the back of the head where the brain and spinal cord connect. It affects one in a thousand people. The doctors diagnosed my condition when I was two, and I’ve had seven surgeries attempting to fix the problem.…
