Personal Narrative: A Career As A FFA Officer

Like when I decided that I would be a part of the FFA officer team.

Being an officer is the pinnacle of academic status at my high school. Every year it was a completion between students for the few coveted positions on the team. To get in was a daunting process of an application, flawless academics, and an interview. Yet there was no guarantee. In the end, I got rejected…twice. But I didn’t give up. I feel I am similar to Rose Philippine Duchesne in the aspect of stubbornness and perseverance. Rose Philippine Duchesne had to be both stubborn and persevering from her father, who would not let her join the Sacred Heart. I feel I am similar to this because, if someone tell me that I am not able do something, I make sure I get it done faster and better than they would have ever expected me to. For example, my father always told me that our family is not a scholarship family.…

Don’t get me wrong but being successful isn’t a straight path that you can follow and most of the time it presents its self as many different paths as obstacles trying to lead you in the wrong directions and those different paths are the choices we make in life. I scored a high average score on the D spectrum. This seemed accurate, as I am relatively competitive overall, I like looking at the big-picture, I don’t mind taking risks, I can be critical of those that don’t measure up to my standards and I am very interested in new and innovative things.…
