I am not born into a rich family that has everything I want and need and clearly I am not born with any amazing skills either. I am just a normal person who is lucky enough to receive the wonderful opportunity of a formal education in America. Being educated is everything a person needs. Through my three years at St. Olaf College, I have gained leadership skills as well as developed a caring personality. My experiences and observations have driven me to believe that giving back is necessary to maintain a healthy living environment for oneself and others within the community. Because I am so appreciative of the educational opportunities that have been provided for me, I am determined to provide support for other youngsters who are less fortunate.
I have been an active member of the SSS Board of Leaders (BOL). As part of the BOL, we are responsible for planning and coordinating many SSS activities such as First Year events, the Ice Cream Social, TRIO Talks, and Senior Advice Night. As I am in the Special Events/Public Relations Committee, I am promoting leadership and campus activity within the SSS community. Also, the purpose of the Public Relations committee is to expand and strengthen the relationship between SSS with the broader St. Olaf community establishing a voice that will be very important for our program.

They have to work very hard for little pay to help support their family, because they lack education. For this reason, I have volunteered myself to work as a student aid at the local adult school in Shakopee. I have fun while seeing their English skills, along with their job opportunities improve.
