My family of origin consists of my mother, father, sister, grandmother, nanny, and great aunt. All of these people played a key role in my childhood and adolescence, the ones who are still with me play a key role in my adulthood. All of the people that played a part in my life didn’t live under the same roof, but we all lived within close proximity to one another. Because of my family of origin, I know to ask for help when I need it and in tough times when I’m feeling overwhelmed, I know that instead of trying to deal with everything on my own, I can lean on my family for support. My family has taught me to be patient, loving, and understanding; I feel that this is very beneficial since I’m going to be a teacher. I don’t feel that my family of origin can negatively impact my profession in any way.
My future family of procreation can impact my profession in different ways. Since I am studying to be a teacher, and because I plan on having children, I can use the two to help me learn what works and does not work in working with children. All children are different, and you have to adapt to using different strategies and methods to help each one succeed.
