Regarding service, Gandhi’s message is universal, and resonates with all people, myself included. As a member of the Absegami Marching Braves, I have literally marched miles to honor veterans and soldiers in Armed Forces Parades, Fourth of July Parades, and Memorial Day Parades, utilizing my talents as a musician to pay tribute to those who have given more service to this country than I ever could. Likewise, I have used my talents as a musician to entertain seniors at Seashore Gardens during the holidays in the hopes of instilling some holiday cheer in their lives. Through the Absegami Marching Braves program, I have serviced the environment of Galloway township through multiple road cleanups along Wrangleboro Road. Sadly, I will not be a high school student forever, so I also visit the Galloway Township Middle School under Absegami’s Tri-M Music Honor Society. In these visits I aid the future musicians of Absegami and inspire them to one day follow in my footsteps, to use their talents for the betterment of society. I believe that a member of the National Honor Society should be selfless, or as Gandhi put it, lose themselves in the service of others.
