Personal Essay: Med-Aid Pharmacist

Similar to Mulan’s fate when she had courageously enrolled in the Chinese military in order to protect her feeble father, I was forced to take on responsibilities that I was not ready for at that age, but under the circumstances, chose to embrace them. August 25, 2012, was the day I had finally made the A-team for volleyball after frequently being told I was not exceptional enough. I remember I was so ecstatic to inform my parents for all they did was support me. Meanwhile, that excitement began to gradually dwindle away when I was still expecting to get picked up an hour after try outs had ended. Finally, after many unanswered phone calls, my aunt had responded and had immediately agreed to pick me up. The ride was so hushed and edgy; I could tell there was something wrong. Surprisingly, as I pulled up to my house, I witnessed a horrific scene I will never abandon. My beautiful mother was on her knees weeping her eyes out as my family members comforted her aching heart. As a result, I had become fascinated with the way a pharmacy functioned that I immediately decided to take a step up the ladder by obtaining a technician trainee certification. Working at this pharmacy had generated a turning point in my life. After almost working two years at this retail pharmacy, I had convinced myself that I wanted to pursue a career as a pharmacist. What better way to aid people than by providing them with the necessary instruments needed to continue a prolonged, enjoyable life?
