In an engineering career, you must be good on math, science, and problem-solving you like it or not, these three things are the basic definition of engineering. That will give you an advantage to get the material you need to learn faster. But obviously for a mechanical engineer you have to have mechanical skills and understand the concept. Additionally, you must also have personal characteristic such as, listening skills, communications skills, and ability to work under pressure. Listing skills and communication skills are very important since most of the time engineers work in groups, you have to have the skills to express your ideas in a way everybody can understand you and listening skills to understand others.
