In 2012, John Koenig created The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows to propose new words assigned to complex feelings previously without a name in an attempt to compensate for shortcomings in the English language. He constructed fresh words that strove to help people better connect with one another by communicating emotion through language. Over the period of a month, we were faced with many difficulties and issues and many great lessons came out of them. I was taught not to let fear stand in the way and to live outside of my comfort zone. This has made me push boundaries, go where I am no supposed to go, and do things that will continue causing me to learn and grow.
I started writing an autobiography over the summer and the hardest part by far was writing the exposition–starting the story of my life on paper. The autobiography I started in the summer describes thoughts and other portions of my ego as well as the experiences I’ve had in great depth. For the sake of keeping this one short, I won’t give you my entire life story. Instead I will write a simple summary of some of my thoughts that will give you an idea of who I am. In order to understand where I am now, you must understand how I think and who I am as a person. To say I overthink everything is an understatement. My mind runs a mile a minute on a track of analyzing observations, philosophical questions, and other concepts I would suppose most people never consider or think about in a refined sense as I do. I have been told that I get more out of conversations and interactions because I am in tune with the intentions and deeper meanings in the words and actions of

It wasn’t until the middle of my freshman year of high school that I gained the self-confidence I had only dreamed about.…

Who are you? This simplistic question can conjure a variety of answers depending on the person responding. The most intriguing and successful replies arise from those who respond with the ideal criteria described by Ramsdell (2010) in “Storytelling, Narration, and the ‘Who I Am’ Story”. Based on Ramsdell’s criteria for the “Who I Am” story, it is evident that writers employ similar aspects into their writing, as seen in Sedaris’ (2000) “ Me Talk Pretty One Day”, and in my personal literacy narrative, “The Weight of Clinkscale: A Learning Experience”.…

After arriving to Wood Middle School as I would on any other day, I walked into the bustling commons area and noticed a herd of students scattered into their separate cliques. However, what immediately caught my eye was the number of teachers and administrators who clearly looked flustered and distressed. I soon left the commons area and headed towards the library to figure what exactly was going on. Sure enough, there was a cluster of teachers gazing at the library’s television in utter disbelief over what would soon become known as “The Stock Market Crash of 2008”. Even though I was only in the 6th grade, I still had enough competence to realize that this was not an ordinary day in the stock market.…

I have always know what I should do but now I can look back and label my choices and understand why I made the decisions I did. My statement is this I subscribe the rule of Hard Universalism, the theory of psychological egoism and because we are always selfish I believe utilitarianism represents the base desires of personhood. Thin Pork Chops Our culture comes from a variety of experiences that had a great impact on me throughout childhood and adolescence, but I was unaware of these influences that were shaping the very essence of who I was becoming. At the very moments that I was being molded into who I was by the influences of my surroundings, I tended to believe that everyone in the world was sharing in these same experiences and being shaped in the same way. It was only after I was thrust into the world that I realized that my way wasn’t the only way. I. I was born in the small town of Monroe, Georgia in the fall of 1972.
