Personal Essay: Anna Heir's Two Passions

Improved Essays
Anna Heir is in her second year of college, taking up her two passions: art and law (and many more). She is 5”10 and enjoys wearing dark colors that match with her hair, which might seem intimidating, but she’s actually extremely timid and warm-hearted, but sometimes irritable. She prefers facts over feelings, and tends to observe what is around her, as well as finding it difficult to take a joke sometimes. Anna can’t stop drawing and writing, no matter what anyone tells her. She usually keeps to herself and is more on the introverted side unlike her fun, flirty friend Victoria. Music like slow jazz and piano interest her a lot, as well as ukulele. Currently, her life is pretty peaceful… and boring.

Victoria Aven is Anna’s best friend since fifth grade, when she got hit with a kickball and Anna had to take her to the nurse’s office. Since then, they’ve been as close as family. Victoria is outgoing and extroverted, unlike Anna. Opposites attract! Victoria loves to sing and dance, and just enjoys performing arts in general. Cooking is also one of her passions, and would sometimes make dinner for the two. Although she’s fun, she could be manipulative. She once tried to teach Anna to dance, but that was lost cause. Victoria and Anna have been loyal to each other for the past nine years and counting.

She doesn’t really miss her hometown, so moving to a different area did not faze her. But because of that, she is usually serious and she only spends time with herself and her books on

This quote by Martin Luther King, Jr has proven to carry throughout history and possibly well into the future as seen in the novels, Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks, The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Each author wrote a unique novel, with one thing in common, the main characters, along with the group of people they identify with, are oppressed by a higher authority that takes their lives for granted.
