The Three Amigos
Everyone has friends who play an important role in his or her life. They cheer one up when they are sad, they entertain one when they are despondent, and they share one's gleeful and disconsolate moments. You will find numerous types of friends, each having different personalities and influences that can positively or negatively impact your life. Some friendships may last a lifetime while some last like seasons, each teaching us a life lesson as they go. Throughout various experiences in friendships, I have come across three types of friends: a messy friend, a mentor friend, and a caring friend, and they all can be identified by their behavior, by the number of friends

She will be in everyone’s business but her owns. This is the friend who is au courant with all the juicy drama and gossips, and she knows everything about one's personal life. She’ll know your ex-boyfriend list, and she’ll know who's dating whom. She is the one who has all the sources and is down to scrutinize or start a rumor. She will behave immaturely topping it off with an ignorant, arrogant attitude. She will roll her eyes at you if your opinion does not parallel with hers. She is the one who will talk behind your back and will apprise others about your deepest, darkest secrets. This friend will look at you from top to bottom and will critic you from the color of your nail polish to the length of your toenails. She will only have one friend which will later be an acquaintance since her friendships only last weeks as everyone will try to keep a distance from her. In my case, I had a friend who I thought was a close friend but turned out to be a backstabber. I divulged all my secrets to her and apprised her of everything a girl would tell her best friend. Instead of keeping my secrets confidential, she went around and told her friends. Not only that she started a rumor about someone and spread it around the school like wildfire would spread in the woods. This least trusted, messy friend will sure have tea to spill if you want to know the latest …show more content…

They are the one who you will look up to as a role model and admire them for their personality or their wisdom. This type of friend acts mature, compassionate and showcases integrity and responsibility. They are compassionate as they will reach out to you when you need them and will be honest about the advice they give you. Instead of taking your problems as a joke, they will maturely and responsibly rectify your complications. With this type of friend, you will see them hanging around with plenty of friends or acquaintances. You will always see people asking them for advice or tips. Because of their personality and their nature, a person's friendship with them may last a lifetime. Anyone would want to be friends with this person because not only they look up to them as a model, but they respect them for their qualities. For me, an eminent mentor is my college friend who academically guides me in every step. She is my mentor friend who consistently gives me advice and assists me when I take college courses or when I need help with something. This mentor friend is the most trustworthy type of friend because they always guide you in the unerring

Those who surround us can change our outlook on life as well as change the way we live in a negative or positive way. Friendships is the unit that many look to in their times of need, for advice, or just someone to talk to in general. However in this world these “friendships” that exist “overlook philia, the slower-burning and longer lasting complement” (Akst 84). Askt brings about the idea of all of the “friends” that one may have but the friendship that we possess is “diluted” and will not fulfill the true meaning of friendship being “uniquely suited to fill the void because unlike matrimony or parenthood, it’s available to everyone, offering concord and even intimacy without aspiring to be all consuming” (Akst 85). A true friendship is one in which both friends are willing to help each other when one is in trouble. A Chinese proverb says: Only when the year grows cold do we see the qualities of the pine and the cypress; only when the troubles come do we see true friendships. This proverb states exactly what I believe a true a friendship is; two people are only true friends when they help each other in times of trouble. However, there must be a balance between the seriousness of the trouble and the help that is provided. For example, the friendship between Damon and Pythias is tested because the level of seriousness in terms of trouble reaches the highest level.…
