In my personal life, I feel like I am experiencing greater than normal levels of stress. In my professional career, I am working in a stressful environment with strong personalities. First, I can set my schedule to be more manageable with my lifestyle. I could reduce my course load for academia to decrease the amount of homework as a student. In addition, I could eliminate available acting gigs that arise on occasion as an actor. Furthermore, I could delegate my responsibilities as a classroom parent to other parents. Next, I can perform a cognitive appraisal for my situation. According to Lamberton and Minor (2014), a cognitive appraisal is the thinking assessment of an event or circumstance that varies depending on the individual and the day. Setting enough time in my day to complete daily tasks and errands can regulate a sense of tranquility and composure, should a stressor occur.
