From the Myers and Briggs Foundation, MBTI® Basics, The Myers-Briggs type indicator test attempts to identify the basic preferences of an individual in each of the (4) dichotomies identified in Jung’s theory. The (4) are, World, information, decisions and structure. Each of the (4) contain (2) choices. For world, the choices are extrovert or introvert. For information, the choices are sensing or intuition. For decisions, the choices are thinking or feeling and for structure, the choices are judging or personality. These selections then lead to (16) distinctive personality types. These personality types do not measure trait, ability or character but instead, sort to reflect preferences. Taken from 16personalities.com, some of the strengths of the ESTJ personality type are dedicated, strong willed, direct, honest, loyal, patient and reliable. They enjoy creating order and are excellent organizers. Some disadvantages are, they can be inflexible, stubborn, may be uncomfortable in unconventional situations and can be judgmental. They may be too focused on social status, find it difficult to relax and have difficulty expressing emotion. From Truity.com, in the workplace, ESTJ personality types thrive on order and continuity. They are content to inforce the rules often dictated by tradition or handed down from a higher authority. ESTJ’s prefer to be in control and often pursue management positions where they can make decisions and affect company policies and procedures. They are very reliable and take on added responsibility when offered. They prefer to work in a highly structured environment with clear goals and expectations that allows them to use their organizational skills. They are not afraid even in the face of overwhelming odds to stand up for what they believe in and make the tough calls. ESTJ type relationships, do not really change as they move from dating to more long-term relationships and finally into marriage. With a high value for honesty and straightforwardness they are more likely to be clear who they are early on and are not likely to change much going forward. Character development for ESTJ type is very important so, they are willing to put a tremendous effort into their relationships to ensure they succeed. ESTJ’s are not touchy-feely types and are more prone to not be, as spontaneous or unpredictable as other personality types. ESTJ’s are especially bad at reading the emotional side of other people and when it comes to their partners, it is more important than ever to try and improve this. They have strong principles and self-confidence and they use these qualities to protect their partners with admiral consistency. But, they are also stubborn, with a firm belief in their rightness and can quickly damage a more sensitive partner’s fragile feelings.

Possible types for a relationship are, ENTP, INTP, ESTP, ESFP and ISFP.
The least likely personality types for a relationship with an ESTJ are ESTJ (go figure!) ENFJ, INFJ, INFP and ENFP. Overall, I tend to agree with all the data listed above pertaining to ESTJ
