Perineal Pain

Purpose
Perineal pain is a common ailment that the majority of women will endure in the postnatal period. Enduring pain can impact on a woman's ability to perform activities of daily living. A literature review was undertaken to explore perineal pain care in the postpartum period, encapsulating 'Women's experiences of perineal pain postnatally', 'Postnatal assessment of perineal pain' and 'Postnatal care provision and perineal pain'.
Method
A review of the literature was systematically undertaken. Six primary research papers exploring the topic of interest were located, including two qualitative and four quantitative papers. These were critically appraised using an appropriate critiquing tool, allowing the evidence to be analysed in terms of
