1. Perception Checking:
Perception checking means that you use a statement that checks your perception of someone else to make sure their nonverbal cues are accurate. Perception checking is a good tool to help you understand others accurately instead of jumping to conclusions or assuming if your first interpretation is the correct one. Using this strategy can be a way of reducing defensiveness in the other person since you are not attacking them, you are merely asking for clarification.
In addition this concept can preserve the face of both parties and prevent a fight or future misunderstandings. When doing, a perception check you should observe the nonverbal behavior, describe the nonverbal behavior, infer about the nonverbal behavior then ask. They lead the group to positive outcomes, and they practice great time management. They make members feel included always and are very organized. They display high confidence and communicate well with others. My ideal group member will have all these skills and behave in a respectful and fair way. I feel like in order to achieve this you have to be an individual who has the ability to maintain focus with multiple people and have patience. As a leader you have to work with different personalities and sometimes make decisions that are uncomfortable to make, my ideal group member has to be strong and eager to succeed. In my experience with my group I feel everyone displayed characteristics of an ideal group member there was never just one person. Joe displayed some characteristics in the beginning that made me feel he was an Ideal group member but then I didn’t see that in him anymore, when we as a group noticed Joe was being more reserved we all started to display signs of an ideal group
