The Chicano Park day was eventful because of the community getting together to celebrate the culture and park. It was impressive to see the amount of people that attended the event and how diverse, especially because of the community it is located in I expected it to be particularly the neighbors. In association to the news and the elections, it is important to see the amount of support that the Mexican culture is receiving and together they can withstand anything. On my walk to the park I noticed that it was going to be crowded because of there not being any parking so we had to park down at the trolley station. This is my first time down there for this event, it was impressive because I would have never thought that due to the amount of people…

Juneteenth is a holiday in Texas that commemorates the celebration of the abolition of slavery in the United States. It was on June 19, 1865, that General Gordon Granger leading the Union soldiers, arrived in Galveston, Texas and announced the end of the war and the freedom of all slaves. This event happened two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation by the president Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863. There have been several versions of stories to explain the two and half years’ delay that it took General Gordon to bring the news to Texas after Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. Four Brix Analysis

Many times we feel that wine tasting involves long trips to places like Santa Ynez, Paso Robles or Napa and often fail to look in our own backyards. Four Brix is one of those local diamonds in the rough being a part of the Ventura Wine Trail that I have shamefully failed to visit in a long time. Gary and Karen Stewart have been long time friends and supporters of Grape of the Night (GOTN). My last visit to Four Brix was in 2013 with the GOTN group where Gary not only tasted us on their fine wines but also provided an education on wine making. When you talk with Gary about wines you can always see this glow and excitement reflecting his passion that shows in their wines.…

The Harvest Moon Festival is an Asian holiday that celebrates the union of families and friends while observing the full moon and giving thanks for the harvest. The Asian American Student Association and the Vietnamese American Student Association observe this day and created a festival here, at Oklahoma State University. I enjoyed the festival, even though the festival did get a bit disorganized, you could still tell that the organizations and the audience all had a fun time regardless of the somewhat mediocre talent. It was a kind of a chilly day. The clouds dressed the sky in a dull white color and the wind made you well aware of its existence.…

    Wine Industry Comparison

When I think of what makes Oregon different in the wine industry, my thoughts are of smaller family owned farms, artisan wines, Oregon’s reputation for being weird and independent, and views on organic farming and sustainability for future generations (Yates, 2016). When I want to partake in some wine tasting, I stay clear of the big wineries, for example, Ponzi in Sherwood, OR and set my sights for unique and smaller wineries, such as White Rose. Smaller wineries are great storytellers and create that good feeling experience when drinking their wines. I found an inspiring story about the winemaker at White Rose Estate, Jesus Guillén. Jesus was never professionally trained nor traveled the world working as an apprentice at great estates.…
