In the case study, I selected the researchers are trying to connect Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) to ovarian cancer. Pelvic inflammatory disease is a polymicrobial infection and inflammatory disorder of the upper female genital tract including the uterus, fallopian tubes, and adjacent pelvic structures in woman (article).
