PEDIATRIC PHYSICAL DIAGNOSIS COURSE
Introduction
Planning student assessment is important to the teaching/learning process. It helps students to understand what they are supposed to be learning. This assignment will help with understanding differences between formative and summative assessments, match learning outcomes with assessment methods, set standards for the assessments, determine a grading system and ways of reporting results to students.

Learn the fundamentals of history taking and physical examination of children. Study body systems with emphasis on diseases and the way they manifest in pediatric patients.

The summative examination is to determine whether or not a student will move to the next level pediatric course. The Criterion reference standard for this pass-fail examination, for example, is set at 70%. Therefore students who make 70% or above will pass and those who make below the standard will fail. In this case, every student could pass or every student could fail. This is unlike the Norm reference standard that bases the pass or fail on other students’ performance. Its limitation is that it could produce false results in situations where the test takers perform highly or poorly on the test. However, Norm reference has its place in admissions and placement examinations.
Grading System
There are many grading systems used from one educational system to another and from country to country or from institution to institution. Since I have been trained using the United States system of grading, I feel comfortable utilizing the US grading
