Higher education has continued to be complex based on the societal expectations, dynamic education practices, policy environment as well as the schools management changes. Technologies, shifting demographics as well as commercialization of organizations have penetrated the higher education system. This being the case relationships between colleges, federal and state governments have also experienced changes with the changing world.

In essence, the traditional mission of education must be maintained despite the changes in the higher education system. As the faculty at Peaceful Setting College stated, “their tradition emphasizing liberal art gave them the critical thinking capacity and analysis skills to face current changes” (Manning, 2012, p.155). This means that the core of liberal arts model of education has to remain intact and any change and technology integration has to be in line with the core. New trends in higher education education such as internationalization, susstainable financial mopdel, duration of education, online learning, demographic changes, were impacting the financial model at Peaceful Setting College (Manning, 2012).
The fact that the committee members at Peaceful Setting College were in agreement with Dr. Schultz and Dr. Laurent regarding the financial crisis and the need for a new financial model makes it easier for them to make a decision.
